Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Problem-Solving method in teaching Maddah Qiraatul Kutub at Dayah Modern Darul ‘Ulum YPUI Banda Aceh. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 25 students divided into two groups: an experimental group taught using the Problem-Solving method and a control group taught using conventional methods. The research instrument was a validated test measuring students’ comprehension of classical Islamic texts. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test to examine differences in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results indicate a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) in the mean scores, with the experimental group achieving higher performance. The application of the Problem-Solving method not only improved text comprehension but also enhanced critical thinking, content analysis, and independent learning skills. These findings suggest that the Problem-Solving method is an effective approach to optimizing Qiraatul Kutub learning in modern Islamic boarding schools, contributing to higher quality in classical text education.
